to photograph artwork
for reproduction,
and a thousand reasons why!"

ART REPRODUCTION: Scanning backs are being used more and more in archival and
preservation projectsfor museums, libraries and historical societies around the world.
The large digital files are desirable for recording the finest detail of the precious art objects,
but the scan back exposures using continuous light sources raise issues of concern with
conservators and registrars. The two reports by Ben Blackwell, University of California Berkeley
Art Museum/Pacific Film Archive have addressed some of the issues.(for a white paper on the
subject click on Ben Blackwell and scroll to bottom of the page)

Grafx 8 uses a Northlight HID light system that produces a UV level of 3 - 30 µWatt/lumens
well under museum standards of 70 µWatt/lumens, preventing harmful UV radiation
